I honestly believe that the hip hop community is one of the most socially conscious and responsible communities out there. Despite what people may think, stereotypes that stick; the true participants are well aware of lyrics alone tackling major social issues. Factor in community leaders with their fundraising events and their time spent molding the youth and well, it is undeniable. It is for this reason that I would like to appeal to all my hip hop heads to partake in the Typhoon Sendong Relief.
Yes, it is overwhelming. Yes, the holidays are insane as it is. Yes, we all have our personal capacities. Yes, the extent of aid always feels as though it is not enough. Nevertheless, we all just have to remember that every little bit counts and this calamity does not end today, tomorrow, in a week, in a month, or even a year. We can each work towards betterment over time through our own means and of course, there are so many ways to show our care and more love.
